This German children chair is a unique wooden design from the fifties. Originally designed as a practical piece for furniture, it quickly became an iconic German piece! Brockhage had a unique idea about the design of children’s rocking furniture. He said that a rocking horse, when it falls, is useluss. Therefore he wanted to design a piece of children’s furniture that would remain nice to use, even when upside down! The Schaukelwagen is a toy car that converts to a rocking chair when flipped upside down. Nowadays, it shown in different museums, like the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the MoMA in New York. This piece remains in good, vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
