A very nice Dutch design desk chair by W.H. Gispen, manufactured by Gispen in the Netherlands around 1950.
The tubular metal frame smoothly transitions to the armrests with bakelite finish. The seat is newly upholstered in a cream coloured ribcord fabric. A combination of materials and shapes that add a unique and classy appearance to this piece, that also has a fantastic seating comfort. The swivel structure of the seat makes for an ideal office or conference chair. Eye-catching feature of this piece is the so called “president’s base”, meaning the base is made of a heavier quality metal with a grey finish, adding a nice contrast to the chrome plated frame. It allows this chair to fit in any decor, from modern to industrial and even contemporary!
It remains in good, vintage condition with new upholstery and minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina!
